Can Sungu was born in Istanbul, Turkey, studied Film (BA) and Visual Communication Design (MFA) at Istanbul Bilgi University and at the Institute for Art in Context in Berlin University of Arts (MA),  gave courses on film and video production at Istanbul Bilgi University and facilitated workshops, took part in many exhibitions in Europe and presented papers in several universities, such as Linköping University, Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis and FH Potsdam.

He works as freelance artist and designer in Berlin and Istanbul. Within a transdisciplinary practice, he experiments with diverse forms of media like computer graphics, animation, film, video, photography and interactive media. His works mostly deal with issues like migration, mobilities, consumer society and their aesthetic dimensions.
